What did you think of the podcasting training you participated in? Can you see some academic value to either using or podcasting in your own classroom?
I was a little intimidated because I have never used an iPod other than my shuffle. However, I came out excited to use both the podcasts available on the iTunes Music Store and to create podcasts for and with my students.
I definately can see the advantage of podcasting in my math classes. I am going to try and use it in Calculus as well as Algebra 1. I see mainly some review podcasts in Algebra 1, but some special topic discussions in Calculus, such as the Chain Rule.
As usual, the training went great, getting a chance to see how this tool can be created and used. I am very excited to use it.
The training was a great experience for me! There are so many ways to use podcasts for instruction. I think I will have to take my time to really understand all the ways to use podcasting in class.
It is now April, and I have to say that I use Podcasts everyday in my classroom. I love the NYTimes Headlines site to teach theme and writing thesis statements. I also use the This I Believe Podcast, Fresh Air, and a couple others. A day does not go by now where I do not use one.
